Bullseye!

Globalization has created an ambience where effective communication is a gilded skillset. You can be talking to delegates from different countries, in a network of people from varying industries or even different age groups! How do you hit the bullseye?

Your audience needs to first trust you, to be able to perceive you oration. People that are confident, optimistic and demonstrate competence, generate trust. Knowing what you have to talk about is important, but even your presentation of it builds the influence. It need not even be an audience of many people. You could be talking in an interview, into sales, training or even management which requires effective communication skills.

The answer to the question is as simple as the question itself: Simplicity, Sense and Relevance.

People don’t want to feel threatened by complicated discussions; they might feel insecure and leave, not discuss or even listen to what you have to say if they can’t make sense of it. If the topic is complex, it is you who has to simplify it using various methods. It could be references that the collective group or person can relate to and understand, or graphics made on your system or drawn on paper! The art of language skills involves the identification of your objective through your creativity.

But how will you know if your creativity is prompting the desired effect? You ask them! Collaborate and know their thoughts. Work on your questions so that you can get the relevant answers from them and know if you’ve hit the Bullseye!
